CASSIE
BRADLEY
About
Early Life
Cassie was born in Basford, Nottingham and raised by her mother in inner-city Nottingham and Mansfield. She was educated at The Becket Comprehensive School and The Oxford School of Drama.
From the age of seven she was a member of Nottingham Youth Theatre before successfully auditioning for The Oxford School of Drama in 2010. Cassie is from a working class background and gained a full scholarship to drama school through the Government's Dance and Drama (DADA) Award Scheme.
Career
In her final year of training, Cassie performed an original comedy short, written for her by Patrick Marber, at London's Soho Theatre. Upon graduating, she was cast by Sam Mendes in the National Theatre's production of King Lear, starring alongside Simon Russell Beale. She returned for her second season with the National Theatre Company in 2016, playing Maggie Pearson in Marianne Elliott and Ben Power's celebrated production of Husbands and Sons with Anne-Marie Duff.
Her first television role came in 2013, playing Sophie West in Channel 5's Suspects. Cassie was cast in Suspects by Jane Arnell, a casting director who noticed her on a visit to The Oxford School of Drama. Roles in The Coroner and Doctors soon followed and in 2017 it was announced that she would join the cast of Casualty as Leigh-Anne Carr.
Cassie received critical acclaim for her role as Dimitri Mitropoulos in the groundbreaking 2017 all-female production of Posh by Laura Wade.
In summer 2018 Cassie began filming the Christmas Day biopic Torvill & Dean for ITV, showcasing her ice skating abilities. She spent the end of the year between Manchester and Morocco filming concurrently on Jesus: His Life for the US and Coronation Street for the UK.
Personal Life
Cassie splits her time between Nottingham and London.
She is passionate about new writing and is regularly involved in development projects with The National Theatre Studio and through her comedy work.
She strongly believes that opportunities should be available to all, regardless of educational background or class, an ethos reflected in her outreach work with National Theatre Learning and her volunteer work with Luminary Bakery. Cassie is proud to be a prominent spokesperson for working class actors.
Since 2011, Cassie has been involved with the Skoll Foundation, an organisation driving large scale change by connecting and celebrating social entrepreneurs & innovators solving the world’s most pressing problems. Cassie shares the Foundation's belief that "A story well told can change the world."

Judi Dench laments that young actors are held back by wealth divide
The Observer . Sun 14 Sep 2014
Dalya Alberge
"A lot of us don't go into this profession because we think we're going to earn a lot of money or become famous. We do it because we love it and we're passionate about it. We're as passionate as people who want to teach or become nurses. If you don't invest in people's training, it's going to have such a huge effect on not only our theatre industry, but also our culture."

" Cassie Bradley is forcefully unsettling as Dimitri, the loaded Greek with a chip on his shoulder. "
